Two and half years ago, my husband signed a 3 year agreement with Pinnacle Alarm company. Last July we sold our house.
The new owner did not want to take over the alarm. We called Pinnacle to cancel the service and they said that we could buy out our contract at a discounted rate. At that time, they had just announced being aquired by ADT Security. They said that once the information was fully transfered to ADT that we could cancel our service at the agreed upon terms.
As instructed, we called ADT a month later. They informed us that we could infact buy out of our contract at a 75% discounted rate. They stated that they would charge our credit card twice over the next 60 days for the normal amount and then charge one final lump sum of XX. When I did the math, it was equal to what we would be billed should we ride out the contract.
When I pointed this out to the ADT rep, she said WE DONT GIVE DISCOUNTS!
YOU SIGNED A CONTRACT! When I pressed, she said they would need to talk to my husband to cancel the service and hung up on me.
