If I only knew what I know now.
I enrolled in the 6 month course because I needed the financial aid. The classroom/filler was a waste of time. Although the first two weeks were useful in preparing me for the CDL permit written exam, they were only necessary because I lacked the the self motivation to study on my own. There is a plethora of information on, websites, smart phone apps, and trucking forums that I could of utilized to pass the exam. The rest of the classroom HOURS, DAYS, and MONTHS were filled with reading from a book (like a 3rd grader), getting bogus certifications, watching a ton of videos, and listening to story upon story upon story about the instructors twisted x-rated adventures in the trucking world. I didn’t learn anything that I couldn’t of learned on my own. I expected to learn more for my money and time, but what I learned was to expect less.
I am now out on the field learning the maneuvers. So far I am making progress and to be fair the instructors have helped, but very little. They put up a good act of caring when they come around. I’ve learned to appreciate their occasional appearances. Some have completely ignored me. Honestly I am getting most of my help from the advanced students. They are the go to guys and are reliably available for advice and tips. I feel bad for them because they’re there to learn as well and are paying just as much as I am, but have to waste their time and energy on rookies like myself. Cheers to them.
NETTTS you got me. I admit I have been fooled and was foolish to not research thoroughly.
To all looking into going to NETTTS I urge you to reconsider. Hopefully this will be a message in a bottle to some looking for a New England Tractor Trailer Training School review. Good luck and don’t fall for the high pressure and aggressive sales tactics.
