Complaint / review text:
I had enrolled in May 2015, unfortunately I had not read any reviews before getting myself into this mess. NEVER was I informed that I was going to need to pay almost $700 out of pocket each term. No one told me that until a month before all this money was due. So I needed to come up with $700 in 4 weeks with a biweekly paying job making barely $300. Everyone I have spoken to says that there is something seriously wrong with this situation and that I should not be paying anything until I have earned my degree. I never would have enrolled if I had known I would have to shell out all of this money. I can't afford this. Then my payment went up without me being notified and when I emailed them about it, they said that their tech fees increased. So, I'm just supposed to shell out even more cash whenever they decide to up their fees for things without notifying me? I don't think so.
Any time I mention having to pay all this money, they avoid answering my questions about it. Financial aid is supposed to cover everything and I was supposed to get disbursement checks... Haven't seen a penny and I'm the one paying all this money to them that I'm never going to see back. I'm trying to get a hold of my advisor to walk me through the process of unenrolling because paying this $700 every term is ridiculous and I can't afford to pay more every time they decide to up their fees without telling people. It's sad that even people that have WORKED for Kaplan have given nothing but bad reviews and don't even recommend that students go there. Other people have mentioned that they are $40,000 in debt... Really? For-profit schools are so ridiculous, and all this money I've been paying them, I'm never going to see again. Thanks for nothing, Kaplan. I will be unenrolling and possibly speaking to a lawyer.
