Complaint / review text:
Brown Mackie College in Kansas City is a rip off college. Students that are going for their Registered Nursing Degree are forced to take about seven pre-requisite classes at $350 a credit hour, which most classes are four credit hour classes and will not transfer to other colleges.
There are only 14 students selected and each student who wants to get into the nursing program has to apply for a seat for that following quarter. Before being selected, each student has to go through an interview with the director of the nursing program. While being interviewed, the director told me I would have to teach myself some things, not quite knowing what was meant by that at the time but I had the chance of speaking with some of the students in this current nursing class quarter and the students were telling me that the student is basically teaching themselves. The students complained on how they were forced to read three to four chapters a night (200 to 300 pages), have a test the next day, then the instructors lecture over it.
That is the most backwards thing I've ever heard of. Mind you that the RN NCLEX passing rate is 62%. My question is, why am I paying Brown Mackie-Kansas City $350 per credit hour (nursing courses are six credit hours) to teach myself? I am trying to find the right sources to contact about this issue.
Honestly, I am so afraid to move on but I'm in the program too deep to go anywhere else. So if you are thinking about going, PLEASE speak to some of the students before signing.
