Hello my name is Rochelle. I have been a student at Everest University since 2010. The reason for this message is I think I have been wronged by the University and need some opinions on what to do! I graduated last year, however the University refuses to send me my Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Everest University in Florida. I have taken classes through this University since 2010. I receive financial aid and have school grants as well. I have agreed to having my classes paid for and my tuition, along with my books and I receive whatever money was left over. However, when I was to graduate and have my Associates Degree sent to me, the school officials told me they overpaid me by $498.00 and that unless I pay that back I won't get my Degree.
It does not seem fair to me to pay for someone else's mistakes. I earned my degree and studied long hours in order to have a higher education. I have tried to call the school officials along with contacting them through emails. They tried to push their mistake on to me and then refuse to respond about this issue after that. They have since added to that amount to almost 1,300. I had explained to them that I shouldn't have to suffer or pay for their mistakes and that I received my transcripts already. However, they tell me I should not have got my transcripts, cause when they withhold your degree, they also withhold your transcripts. Can you please help me as to this is rather frustrating not to mention stressful, and probably not the only one this has happened to!!! I also believe they withheld some of my financial aid from me last year intentionally. I did not receive any financial aid for that school year until December and I used to receive my financial aid every semester with no problem before. I feel like I have been played as a fool and this University has wronged a lot of people and IT'S NOT RIGHT THAT THEY CONTINUE TO GET AWAY WITH DOING THIS TO THOSE WHO ARE TRYING TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION. It's wrong!!!
