We've had this problem a few times in the last couple years. They would sign us up for a bundle offer for 6 months. After the 6 months is up your bill will go up $20-$30 the following month. Then each month after it'll continue to go up. Sometimes $5 a month other times $10 a month... It seems like almost every month with no end in sight. We called today to complain that our bill jumped $20 and they told us there is nothing they could do about it. I said you have a cable and internet package for $44 a month for 12 months. They said that's for new customers only and the only way would be for you to cancel your service for 2-3 months then after that time resubscribe to Time Warner. They treat new customers like royalty just to get their business... Then after a year treat current customers like a dog.
When I go to the grocery store once a month to get a loaf of bread I pay $3... When a new customer comes in he also pays the same price I do $3. Older customers don't have to pay an extra $1 or $2 just because they were more loyal customers. It should be that way with cable. To say you don't have any packages for us and that our bill will go up $80 a month is just wrong! I can see with inflation maybe increasing the cost $5 a year that's understandable. But to increase our bill 20-40% each and every year is WAY above inflation and so WRONG!
To put a cherry on top, our modem lease went from $5 up to $8 a month. These are used modems... I've had the same modem for many years. Why the increase? Modems cost $80 new... I've already paid that modem off multiple times. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Time Warner. They offer the bait & switch type sale. Today my wife and I are canceling our cable and internet service with Time Warner.
