Complaint / review text:
I've been with Oceanic For a long time. At the end of August I tried to transfer our service to a new location that we moved to. I had my current address at the time shut off in anticipation of getting service at our new location. I got a call the next day or so saying that there is a balance due from the address that we were at prior to the one we're moving out of now. I questioned the possibilities since my current bill has been on time. (In fact when I received my current bill I had a credit of $32.17) we went to our local office to see what's going on and was told that we owed $317. When asked why it never showed up on our bill she said that someone might have transferred it when we moved in Jan. 2009.
I went to their Facebook page and posted how I felt about this whole thing and ended up with a phone call and was informed that she would pull the old bills. My question is why were we allowed to transfer to the current location if "we still owed"? I got a call back two days later and a voicemail saying that we owed from the 2004-2005 billing period. So here it is 10 (TEN) years later and 6 years since our last move and we can't transfer service until the bill is paid. HOW DO I KNOW IF I ACTUALLY STILL OWE MONEY? DID SOMEONE forget FORGET to log in some of our payments? Wouldn't our cable have been stopped being that far behind?
So now because of someone's (Oceanic Cable) goof up We're are WITHOUT cable or internet. When we went back to our local office the lady at the counter overheard us speaking to the manager and looking over her reading glasses while helping another customer says out loud "I checked and you guys only made one payment" loud enough for other customers (2) in Line to hear. Really? You think we're wrong so you have the right to speak down to your customers? How unprofessional can this get? Well Oceanic now what do I do, post this all over the Internet?
The ph number associated with this account is:. If we did owe our service would've been cut off back in 2004-2005. And why did it not show up until now when we're trying to transfer it. I don't have $300 to pay for a transfer. Let's say I did somehow owe and someone at Oceanic messed up and didn't tell us we still owed money before we moved in 2009? Why do we have to pay for that mistake? Please help, this really sucks. And don't send this to our local contact, that's what was done earlier and got me nowhere.
