Complaint / review text:
I purchased an iPhone 3GS a little over two years ago. Last week, the phone imploded from a faulty battery while it was sitting on my desk. I watched the phone expand and bust open. When contacting Apple, they said the phone was out of warranty and I would have to buy a new phone. When I went to their support site, I found hundreds of people with the same complaint and Apple is doing nothing about it. Some were lucky enough to get the phone replaced for the price of anywhere from $80.00 to $200.00. I am not about to pay another cent to Apple. I paid $699.99 for a phone that is basically disposable because they used an inferior battery in their product.
I understand a battery losing its life and not taking a charge, but never have I heard of it exploding inside a device and the company not being held liable. Nowhere in any of the literature with the phone did it say anything about replacing the battery after time or that it may explode. This is dangerous and they need to make a recall.
