I subscribed to McAfee antivirus / spam software about 6 months ago. Last week, my computer started freezing up and blocking access to the internet and other programs, even McAfee itself. Obviously, the software from McAfee did not protect my computer. Websites we access are widely used and not risky sites (ex. Facebook, etc.), no outside programs were downloaded or unknown emails opened or accessed.
Upon contacting McAfee, I was informed that I needed to purchase a 5-day service contract for $89.95 to rid my computer of a virus that McAfee should have prevented from entering my computer in the first place! This is beyond preposterous and I'm very dissatisfied with this service. If it happens again before my contract expires, I will switch likely to Norton and certainly will switch after contract expiration. I will be filing a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office as well. Consequences are the lack of use of my laptop computer for 10 days and an additional $89.95 fee to rid computer of several viruses that McAfee did not prevent from entering computer.
