Complaint / review text:
I contacted Norton tech support since my Norton antivirus wouldn't run. I thought maybe I had a virus that disabled Norton. The representative uninstalled it and said that someone would call me back in a couple of hours. Then Norton Tech support did call back. They attached remotely to my computer and looked things over. They said that I didn't have a virus but rather an 'infection' that went undetected by Norton. They brought up a screen that showed foreign entities attached to my computer, languages, etc. Then went on to say that I needed to pay $199.99 for them to fix this.

I then asked for them to show me the screen that they previously showed me with the foreign entities that had attached to my computer. They admitted it was a SIMULATION... Not a real example of what was going on with my computer. It was FAKE! What I found out was that after the initial call to Norton, it was AdvantEdge Corp in India that called me back. Technical Support: 1-877-629-1001; Customer Service: 1-888-809-5256; Email Support: [email protected] Norton claims not to be associated with them; however, they are partnering. These are fraudulent and deceptive practices.
