The new Splash model works well as did the older unit but it has some Issues.
The Charger: The new charging station is unique and is not compatible with standard USB charging. It Requires that you be in a location where 120 volt AC wall plugins are available. So you cannot charge it in the car or from your computer - Big inconvenience! Secret note, there IS a micro USB charging connector located under a sealed panel just below the two charging pins. You have to pry off the panel to access it and the unit is probably no longer waterproof and that may void the warranty.
Battery Life: The battery life for the Splash unit [about three days] is about half that of the older model [ 6 to 7 days].
Design: The older model had a place to attach a lanyard loop string on the main body of the unit so that you could hang it around your neck. The new Splash unit forces you to attach a very bulky belt clip to the unit and attach the neck lanyard to the belt clip. The belt clip increases the unit thickness by 50% and has some very uncomfortable protrusions.
I still use it because it is the best system out there right now but these issues need to be addressed in future releases.
