The name of the Sexton Dental Clinic should have been a dead giveaway — SEXTON - SEX meaning you're going to get screwed, and TON meaning it will be two thousand pounds worth.
First let me say that the upper dentures that I just had replaced at this clinic are excellent and I am very happy with them. For the most part, the staff were extremely friendly and pleasant to work with.
I chose to purchase their top of the line, premium upper dentures for $150, plus a $10 "infection control" fee. Unfortunately to get this beautiful upper plate, I had to endure their BAIT AND SWITCH unprofessional tactics.
The first plate they presented me with was so OBVIOUSLY and INTENTIONALLY DEFORMED that I could insert a pencil between the upper and lower plate when my teeth were together. They looked like I'd been in a car accident. I looked at the technician and told her she ought to be ashamed of herself for bringing in something that looked that bad.
She went to get the dentist who immediately said if I paid a "little more" to do a "FIT IN" (and get some which would actually be fit to my mouth), they would credit what I had already paid toward the FIT IN denture. They clearly had NO INTENTION of allowing me to leave there with the first set of teeth. The "little more" they spoke of was ANOTHER $195, after the $160 I'd already paid, an increase of 130%.
In talking with other patients, I learned there were at least a dozen others that were having the same experience.
$345, the price I ended up paying, is an excellent price for an upper denture. I've been quoted prices of over $3000 for a full set of dentures. I don't have a problem with the final price, just the bait and switch.
If you're coming into Florence from out of town, spend the $345 right from the start, and get your excellent dentures in one day. If you start out with the "no fit" model, you'll end up having to spend an extra day.
Whoever is behind this BAIT AND SWITCH ought to be ashamed of themselves. They should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. Whoever governs dentists should go in and slap their hands for such practices.
It's quite obvious why they have the "no refund" policy.
