For one, you pay $39.95 a month for the membership which is reasonable. But then they make you pay an additional $25 every 6 months for maintenance, but then when I tell them that their benches are ripped, there is gum stuck to plates; and that they should get a hexagon bar, they just brush me off and never see anything done about it.instead, they went out and bought 6 flat screen smart TVs for the treadmills that hardly anyone ever uses (which by the way, those TVs which are Samsung go for almost $3,000 a piece).
I am also moving for my job back to Wisconsin. I am currently in Tennessee. I went through the whole pain of calling them and making sure there is no gym within 20 miles and such and got approved. Then they tell me I need to show them my residence in Wisconsin. I haven't moved yet, so I don't have bills or anything stating that I have moved. I want to cancel it before I move so I'm not getting charged for the time I won't even be in state because it takes 30 days. They are not willing to work with you on anything.
I understand it's a 3-year agreement, but I was also never told about the $195 cancellation fee. The fact that I'm moving to somewhere that does not have a National Fitness anywhere close, they refused to work with me on this fee. I could understand if they charged the fee to people that didn't have a reason and just want to be out of it like a cell phone contract, but nope. When you call and ask for a manager, the person says that everyone at the location is a manager. While I was a member for 10 months, either the hot tub, sauna or steam room was always out of order or could not be used. My recommendation is just to go to a 24/7 gym and not waste your money on a gym that doesn't care about you and wants to get as much money out of you as possible.
