Complaint / review text:
I have over 20 domains with Godaddy and have been more than happy with their services. That is until now one of my demands expired in April I had 12 days to renew it I tried several times to renew the domain with no success I continually got the response "unable to process" i verified with both my financial institution and my paypal account that i had available funds for the renewal which i did in both accounts. Once the domain had expired and disapeared from my account the checkout system appeared to be working again yet my domain had disappeared I eventually got a hold of someone in the customer service department Phill his name was. Phill tried to tell me the renewal was declined by my bank and paypal which is simply not the case. Either their checkout system was malfunctioning or it was purposly defaulted by an agent or the system in order to raise revenue by charging me a Domain Redemption Fee and Renewal fee. Phill proceeded to tell me i should have phoned or contacted them sooner. Which i tried to do. I called the australian support number which was engaged every time i called. Day and night it was engaged. I called the US Support phone number from a friends mobile and was promptly placed on hold for over 55 minutes. I was forcet to end the call before i got the chance to speak to anyone due to the alarmingly high cost of the phone call. AUD$309.66 -
I emailed the support team and it was returned telling me to repeat what i had already done.
The total cost of my domain renewal & redemption was $122.23 plus my phome call makes this the most expensive domain i have ever renewed. It is a grand total of $431.89 USD.
As opposed to the $17.99 I attempted to pay.
This in my opinion is a blatent REVENUE RASING SCAM on the part of GoDaddy.
I am in the process of transfering all of my Domains and convincing all of my Web clients to also transfer their Godaddy Domains to an Australian Registrar.
I have been a happy and loyal Godaddy customer for several years now and all my clients host their sites with GoDaddy at my behest but after this incident i feel im left with no alternative than to take my business to another registrar.
