Complaint / review text:
I joined Zoosk for $74.95. Compared to two other dating sites I am on, and Plenty of Fish, Zoosk is more expensive for vastly fewer features. (1) While you can set matching parameters such as age range, distance, and smoking status, the matching algorithm ignores them. You are presented with people when do not meet those criteria. (2) After paying a hefty fee to join, when you use the feature called Carousel, if you want to see the profile of someone presented to you, you have to pay more. All you are presented with is age and picture.

Zoosk uses fake "coins" that you have to buy above and beyond your membership in order to actually see the person's profile (city/state, whether they smoke, etc.) They give you a few coins to start with but not enough to do anything. (3) They do not have an algorithm that LEARNS from who you are interested in or not interested in, in order to give you better matches. (4) There are a lot of fake profiles with no quality control. (5) Fully 10% of the profiles presented to me were the wrong gender.

(6) There is a "feature" called SmartPick which gives you one picture that is supposed to be a good match. Picture only, no info. You only have two choices: Send them a message or reject - still without seeing their profile. And then the screen says you cannot see your next "Smartpick" until 24 hours have elapsed. (7) There is no help available. The FAQs are cursory. I have cancelled after 2 days (I bought 4 months) because the site is really infuriating and not as advertised. This site is a frustrating waste of time designed to churn more fees but most importantly does not present any real matches.
