I noticed a $77.50 charge on my debit card this morning from Match.com. I had forgotten all about my account since I wasn't receiving any decent emails. I was a little shocked that this had even occurred since I never signed up for any renewal on my account. I immediately contacted Match.com customer support and was thrilled to have a chat available immediately through the website. I stated the facts to the representative and asked for a full refund of these charges. I was then told of their automatic renewal policy and stated they do not give full refunds and that as a courtesy I could have a partial payment of $20-$22.
I opted out of this partial payment and once again demanded a full refund. After a while I felt this conversation was not going anywhere and asked to speak with a supervisor. I was told the same thing. I was on the phone with my bank disputing the charges at the same time and notified the supervisor of this. I was told if I dispute the charges with my bank I would never be able to create a Match.com profile, they would never charge to my account. Of course, this is what I want, but out of good service I still wanted a full refund from the company. I was able to get a full refund from my bank. This is such poor service from Match.com. I am so unbelievably disappointed in their policy. If they have an automatic renewal policy, at least (at the very most) issue full refunds.
