Complaint / review text:
I am on Universal Lifeline telephone service with ATT for $2.95 a month. My bill today was for $16.59. I found this company, who I know nothing about, charged me $14.95 for monthly services. When I called them, they said they would remove the service but that I have to pay them the $14.95 this month because I ordered it on the internet. When I asked how, they said from a form I filled out on the internet, "do you use the internet?" I demanded to know what form and they finally said it was from Comcast internet. I don't have Comcast. She said she would send me an email with the form to prove it, and that I have to pay. I never received the email. I would not give her my home address or email.
I reported this to the California Public Utilities Commission, and tomorrow, when ATT is open, I will contact them.
I have gone through this before with another company charging my phone bill. It took months to remove.
I also had a company charging my bank account for "internet services". These scams are always around vague internet-related services that I did not order.
How do they get away with just charging my accounts? I never gave out this information, particular my debit card, to just any old sight.
Something is terribly wrong for this to keep happening. It is fraud.
