Complaint / review text:
Our contract run out with Directv. Stupidly, I called Charter about their $29.99 a month for phone, internet, tv package. Was told that it would just UNDER $100.00 a month for a year and then it would go up $20 the next year. I was told, after asking, is that under $100.00 WITH all FCC charges, taxes, state, local, federal and i was told YES. My mother asked them the same thing, YES it would be under $100.00. Fine. Was also told we would have to pay $30.00 charge for installation. We did. They did not even hook the box up corectlyh. I had to go into to reprogram it for the HD channels aspect ratio corrections. First bill? $113.00. Second months bill? $111.00. Hmm. What happened to UNDER $100.00 a month? We call. They tell us, "oh! Well, they we're wrong when they told you that price quote." And two different employwess told us the same thing? Listen people, I have dont these things at least five differnt times and with the BBB. This is the way it is. They are a company. Not car insurnance. Not a drivers license. If you want THEIR business, you will get what they give you. Lie to you? Cheated you? Deceived you? You bet! YOU came to them. It is NOT a necessity. Do without. It's a luxury. They can do what they wish. Now how on earth do you make a point to these types of lying, cheating theives? You will be surprised, but here it is... Cut. It. OFF! That's it folks. Cut it off and when you do tell them why and that you can do with out it! However, there is a downside to this. It will never happen AND they know it. Especially if you have kids. They know the kids are as addicted to tv and internet and the mind numbing tv shows on now and the commercials that we pay cable companies to bombard us with! It is insanity. But maybe, just maybe if I continue to tell others to do without cable because:
Their tv shows are full of commercials
If commercials pay for the tv show, why do we pay such a high bill to watch those networks?
Most of the networks show the same show and episodes over and over and over. Like MASH didn't have 13 years of different episodes?
Some networks have cut their episodes a few seconds to a mintue short so you can pay cable for MORE commercials!
You think about it. And sadly america is so addicted to tv and the internet that regardless of what the cable companies do to, we keep paying. As for me? No I do not have cable. I use this a work to spread the message and the cable is for my edlerly parents whom, cannot deal with all the changes so I have to get installed for them AND deal with these liars. PLEASE, folks, think about cancelling cable. It's the ONLY way it will make a difference! Enough do it at once and it will not take long before there are changes in their additudes. Oh yes, and one more thing. Has anyone noticed that Ricky Lake, Maury Povich, CNN, FOXNEWS, HLN and ANY of the other talk shows and investigative reporting show NEVER... NEVER talk about the ripoffs that are happening every day with cable companies? Ever? No. Never. Wonder why? Most likely, it okay to beat your girl or boyfriend up or complain about food comanies, grocey stors, defective cars and so on. But NEVER have I watched a 30 mintue or one hour talk show or news commentary on cable ripoffs and pissed consumers! Funny huh? Thank God for this man who started this site! Long live pisseconsumer.com. And please, post only absolute truths on here!
Thanks for letting me air this. Charter? It's no worse than any other cable provider. They may have pretty good service but the prices and promises are lies.
