I wasn't happy with the service so I had turned off the auto-renew feature, but the account auto-renewed anyway. I had to escalate the case to the Better Business Bureau to get the situation resolved.
If you are a current subscriber who does not wish to renew:
-As per their policy, you are eligible for refund if you let them know by LETTER within 3 days of the original subscription, that's it.
-Turn off AutoRenewal - the option is where they show your credit card info.
-Any banner or email that you get about renewal will auto renew you if you just click them, apparently. They don't bring you to the page where you can find more info and opt to renew - it just renews it.
-You are best off cancelling your subscription 1 day before it ends so you can be sure they don't auto renew you.
If you disabled autorenewal but it renewed anyway:
-1) Call the customer service department, be pleasant and ask for a reversal of charges & state you had opted out of autorenewal. If they say you clicked something, say you never did.
-2) If this doesn't resolve the situation, refute the charges on your credit card.
-3) Fill out the eHarmony Trust & Safety email asking for cancellation of the charge and all future scheduled charges, and for your account to be disabled.
-4) If they deny you, file a Better Business Bureau complaint with the above.
I was able to get my account disabled and charges dropped following the above steps.
