Complaint / review text:
This title agency does not believe in communication or good customer service. This is my 2nd home purchase and what a disaster. I will never again use this company. My real estate agent referred me to them but I thought he was steering me in the right direction. I couldn't have been more wrong.
As our loan was approved, I had to place the 1st call to Barristers of Ohio just to find out what was next since the loan was in place and approved (you would think they want your business but I guess not). After the first call to them, the lady seemed very bothered by my call and really didn't want to answer any of my questions. Actually, she couldn't wait to get rid of me. She did tell me I had to sign off and fax some papers for title insurance over so I did that immediately... Several days went by and not a single word or phone call from the title agency Barristers of Ohio.
I again called to make sure they had everything needed and to ensure we were not slowing up our side of the transaction. On Saturday, my loan officer said I would be closing in a few days and someone from Barristers of Ohio should have contacted me already... Yeah right?!?! What a joke.
Again, on the very next business day, I again called to Barristers of Ohio to find out what was happening and if I was on the schedule for the very next day. When I reached the same lady at the office as the first time I called, I was polite but let her know that communication is key and that no one has contacted me at this point and according to my loan officer, I was on the schedule to sign tomorrow. She did confirm that with me on the phone and I really said what about letting me know so both my husband and I could make arrangements to be there? This was less than 24 hours notice and remind you - I HAD TO CALL THEM!!! If I hadn't called them... Who knows if I would have even been informed or called. I also asked how much was I supposed to bring to the table financially to close and she did not have that answer. I just could not believe what I was hearing. At this point, I finally told her, when you get your stuff together and know what's going on, call me back.
We have yet to close... And if I could I would switch title agencies today.
At least, maybe I can help others from making the same mistake... Do not use Barristers of Ohio.
