I purchased the Nook Color several years ago from the Barnes and Noble store in Rhode Island and it shut itself down after about a year's use and would never come back on. When I went to the Barnes and Noble store in Florida to find out the problem, I was told that the Nook Color had that problem and there was no fix for it and I would have to buy another so I bought the Nook HD. Well guess what—same problem! One would think they would correct this problem after all these years. Very very disappointed in the Nook—I love Barnes and Noble and would rather be a loyal customer of theirs but I am leery of purchasing any more books if I can't turn the darn thing on. The bottom line is that Barnes and Noble is losing out as I seek alternate reading solutions to access the Nook books and apps that I have already purchased and am not inclined to make future purchases.
