I have been a Quicken and Turbo Tax user since the early 90's. I was happy with Quicken until it wouldn't load one day after Mac updated their OS. I had to buy Quicken Essentials or buy the PC version of Quicken. I choose Essentials. Its limited functionality was disappointing and the time-consuming data repairs I had to deal with, after importing from the older version, was ridiculous.
Amazingly, about a year or so later, Quicken 2007 was released; which I bought. It worked on the latest Mac platform but he conversion back was so bad; I continued to use Essentials to maintain the integrity of my data. I also repaired the most important accounts in 2007 and continued to maintain that version as well - what a pain.
Essentials stopped connecting on 5/1/15 just like Intuit said, but Quicken 2007 still downloads my account transactions, at least for now. That's what I'll use rather than downgrade to Quicken 2015. I also downloaded a 30-day trial version of iBank5, which looks pretty promising. As far as Turbo Tax, I tired to get my rebate for the stunt Intuit pulled on consumers this year, but the offer ended on the 20th of April. I've had it with the buggy Quicken software and Intuit's tactics of making a product unusable so you have to buy their latest unimproved version. Enough is enough.
