Complaint / review text:
A few months ago noticed a long distance charge for Mexico on my SBC phone bill. My family does not know anyone in Mexico. I called SBC and disputed the charge. They said they would put the charge on hold and contact ILD Teleservices to try to have the charge removed. After about three months, the charge again appeaared on my bill. This time I call the 800 number for ILD Teleservices who said it was a collect call that someone in our household accepted. I explained that we don't know anyone in Mexico and would not have accepted a collect call. Even if one of our teenage daughters had received the call and mistakenly accepted it, they would not have stayed on the phone for 7 minutes.
The service rep was quite insistant that I pay the charge. I asked her if it could be some sort of phone scam and she said no. Now, having gone to the internet to see if it could have been a scam I see tons of people have had the same experience with this company. I don't see any advise on the consumer affairs site about any action being taken against this company or about how we victims should handle it. Why not!
The charge is for $11.92, and I am going to continue to dispute it with my phone company and keep trying to get ILD Teleservices to remove the charge.
