United Health Care did not pay for my colonoscopy screening that is meant to be covered at 100% as per the ACA. I have verified that it was coded correctly by the doctor. I have asked that the claim be reviewed.in the meantime UHC has emptied out my health savings account (HSA) to pay the claims associated with the colonoscopy.
Last year they paid a fraudulent claim using money from my HSA and then took zero responsibility to help me get my money back. After several months and threatening the hospital with court they finally returned my money.
Last year they approved my son's durable medical equipment. It was shipped and my son started using it and then UHC changed their minds and wouldn't pay the claims. I had to appeal their decision and in the meantime I was receiving bills for hundreds of dollars of equipment.
Plus, UHC forces you to use their mail-in-pharmacy. I have researched the prices of the medications that my husband and son use and the total cost is significantly higher from OptumRx than it would be from other retail pharmacies.in fact for some of the medications it is cheaper to pay out of pocket than it is to pay our co-payment for prescriptions.
