Anonymous (on 7/22) hit it right on the head when he described eBay's "make believe customer service". I sympathize with someone on the other side of the world working the graveyard shift and attempting to communicate in a 2nd language. The problem is, they're generally unable to understand a problem, much less solve it. Since moving customer service overseas customers (buyers and sellers) have no way to communicate site problems. As a result the eBay site itself has become "buggier" and less user friendly. Beyond customer service... EBay has steadily increased selling fees and discouraged small-time sellers. They encourage all sellers to pay monthly fees in order to have an "eBay store". The monthly fees make no sense for the occasional seller. EBay's charm was that of "the world's largest garage sale", open to all sellers and buyers. That charm is gone.
