Uses Deceptive, Fraudulent Ads & Phone Pitches To Entrap Innocent Customers

Complaint / review text:
I was searching the Internet for a possible house or condo to rent in the Southern California region and was told to check out Craigslist online. Upon arriving to the site I saw several homes and condos for rent.

But there was one ad that caught my eyes immediately and it read:

$1475/3br-2bathroom with Sunny Clean Quiet Neighborhood!
Perfectly located 3 bd, 2ba condo in clean quiet neighborhood with sunny open feel thats ready to be taken over. The prior home owners could no longer handle the mortgage, thats why the remaining balance is $63,000.

What I have you do is take over the monthly payments with no down payment or credit needed and the condo will eventually be in your name. For other properties in the Hollywood area please contact Megan Duval at 800-520-9871.

After I call the number list above, a lady calling herself Jennifer Alexander answers and gave me a brief run down of what her Company provided. Her's her phone sales pitch to me:

Our Company works with people who are losing their homes due to their inability to pay their mortgage. Our agents helps customers like yourself obtain one of these homes with no down payment or credit check and usually within 6 months the home is transferred over into your name.

Your monthly payment amount will remain the same as the previous owners until paid in full by you. To view our list of home, you will need to pay a one time fee of $198. Once you hav paid the fee we will give you an access code to our list of homes.

Once you have selected a home, our agents will run a title search to insure that the home is clear of all liens and judgements, and then do all the necessary paperwork to get the home transferred into your name. This whole process takes about 2 weeks and the home is yours.

Again, you do not need to make a down payment or run your credit to obtain a home through our services. And we offer a 1 year, money back guarantee if we cannot help you find a home of your liking. So what credit card do you want to use to sign up?

This was the phone pictch I was given by a lady who called herself Jennifer Alexander. But when I asked her for her Company's name, she told me she couldn't give out any of her Company's information without the $198 commitment from me.

I found this odd, but was drawn in by the wonderful services she stated her Agents offered. I assumed when she used the word, (Agents), she meant Real Estate Agents). But that was not the case.

After I gave Jennifer my credit card number she told me her Company name and gave me their website address. She told me she would be sending me an access code to my email address that would give me access to view the homes on their website.

After hanging up with Jennifer I immediately went to their website and observed a fairly simple template type website. And after reading their Company info and terms and agreement, I realized that they were not a Real Estate Company after all, but a third party Company selling foreclosure lists I could easily obtain myself on the Internet through search engines.

In their terms and agreement it stated that if I declined their terms and agreement clause and did not acess their list of homes or other services that I could cancel the subscription within 24 hours after signing up and get my money back.

I cancelled my subsription to their Company within 9 hours after signing up & it has been (3) days with no response from HomeAccessUSA. I have already gone to my bank and have filed for an investigation to be launched against Home Access USA to get my money back.

Apparently this Company has been dupping a lot of people out of their money with fraudulent ads and phone pitches. Friday, 8/10/07 I learned through Google that Home Access USA have been flagged to be removed from Craigslist for fraudent practices.

I am glad because one of the reasons I responded to Home Access USA is because they were on Craigslist and I knew Craigslist does it best to keep the posting on their site ethical and honest.

So if you come across an ad offering you the opportunity to take over someone's mortgage with no credit check or down payment, Run Like The Wind In The Opposite Direction!

Sincerely,

James
