Complaint / review text:
After being on Facebook for several years, using it to keep in contact with distant friends and family members, I had a girl whom I had never met before steal my identity and create a fake Facebook profile to go along with it. She slandered any of my friends and family members who spoke to her on this profile page she created, when they contacted the profile thinking it was me. When I became aware of the profile and the damage she had caused to my emotions and the emotions of my loved ones, I "hunted" down this profile page and reported it as a fake profile pretending to be me.
Not only did they disable my own actual account after providing them with a photo ID to prove my profile was the true profile and the other was an impersonation, and provided pages and pages of printed material proving this fake profile was indeed fake; Facebook still has this fake profile up and running with pictures of myself and my children that she stole from other profiles to create. I even gave them the name and address listed with this young woman's local sheriff's office where I filed identity theft charges; and the issue has still not been resolved. The fact that not one human being has contacted me about the issue and that they have only an automated response for issues of this or any nature is beyond me. Identity theft has nearly ruined my life and reputation and is a serious crime; but Facebook does not seem to be taking it seriously. The lack of effort put forth in this issue has left me with little way to stop this person from hurting my family again.
