I purchased my Polo 1.6 Comfortline in November last year from Benoni City (South Africa). The car wasn’t even polished when I picked it up and still had marks from the stickers on it, there was a scratch mark on the black panel between the driver and passenger door. The car was then taken back a week later. About 2 weeks later there were water marks on the inside of the boot just below the window. Benoni then fetched the car and left me with a courtesy car. They couldn’t find a leak and assured me that the water marks could have been from the smash and grab. A few weeks later I get an email with a Traffic fine insisting that I was speeding with their courtesy car. When I looked at the time of the fine and the place it was actually the dealerships driver and not me. This is such bad customer service to be honest!
Around Jan / Feb the Airbag faulty light came on, I took it to Centurion VW. They told me that the battery voltage was low so the memory was erased and the light was no longer there. A few days later the light appeared again. I took it back to Centurion and they put the car on the diagnostic machine and found that the switch was faulty. The car was then booked in and the switch was replaced. A week, the most and the light appeared AGAIN. So I took it back to Centurion and they couldn’t understand why it was on again. After some discussion they decided they will change the Airbag control unit. The car was booked in over the weekend. The car was fine for about 2 weeks and once again the light appeared. The “passenger air bag light” above the radio started to flash more often. Centurion then sent the results to VW South Africa and were told to replace the switch AGAIN! I picked up the car and drove about 30 KM and the warning sign came on again. At this point I was beyond frustrated as I did not buy a second hand car! I called VW SA myself and lodged a complaint. Centurion also aligned my door as there was a wind noise, my door now CREEKS! Getting absolutely no joy from Centurion I took the car to Midrand last month. They did everything from scratch, replacing the switch and removing the seat to check what could be loose or faulty. A week ago I get told that they need to remove my dash board and look at the wiring. I refuse to allow ANYONE to remove the dashboard as once again I bought a BRAND NEW CAR not a second hand car. The car was not even 4 months old when I started experiencing problems and I refuse to keep a car with a safety problem! I am scared that one day I will be driving and the airbag deploys or if im in accident and the airbags don’t deploy. I did try to get the problem fixed but after 2 different dealerships and 6 months of frustration I want someone from higher management to now take over this matter and provide me with a new car.
I am very dissatisfied with my car and wouldn’t refer any of my friends or family to purchase a VW with this type of service and if No one can fix a continuous problem that has been there for 6 months.
