B&N is locking account to force new credit card info to be provided. My credit card was stolen and I had to cancel it and get a new one. I did not have the new card with its new number for 2 weeks. B&N/Nook locked my account and prevented me from accessing any of the books that I had already paid for. The account stayed locked and I could not even continue reading the book I was reading. The Nook was locked until the new credit card came and was added to the account. They had locked me away from the books I had already bought and paid for. I can however understand them refusing to allow me to purchase new books.
Customer service said 7 times that that problem is all in my head. B&N does not have any such policy. Seven times I told them that they do and 7 times it was inferred that I was a liar. They do have that policy and just don't tell anyone in customer service. I was also able to find out that B&N/Nook tracks purchases and turns them over to "DVM" for processing and so that they can monitor what I buy. When will "DVM" decide that my reading habits are not to be tolerated and I am locked out of my purchased books, free books and other vendor supplied books (Baen Publishing). I don't know if Kindle is any better but stay away from B&N/Nook.
