I purchased a Nook and several books that I planned on reading during a six-month sabbatical in Europe. Shortly after I arrived in Germany, I visited a Starbucks and logged on to the B&N site with my Nook attached to the computer. Immediately, all my books were erased from my Nook and my account was locked. I could not access the account until I returned to the States. Once I returned, I called Barnes and Noble and was told this happened because my credit card had expired and I had to enter a new card. I couldn't believe that they would do this. The Nook representative at the local Barnes and Noble store, he couldn't believe it either, but called his boss at B&N and told me that it was the policy. I am so displaced that I have never ordered another book and now use the local library.
