I had issues with an order I placed on line through years ago and swore to myself I would never spend my money with this company again. Fast forward to 2012. My brother and I purchase toys for a toy drive as well as my nephews. We went into a TRU store and it was a zoo! To be expected. None of the items we were looking for were in stock (full priced items, not sale items) and when me managed to find an employee to ask she recommended we try ordering on line. Thought about it for a couple days and after being unable to locate our items in other stores we regrettably ordered on line. Each item was categorized specifically "in stock" "available to ship in 1-2 days". Great! Well 5 days later 1 of the 8 toys we ordered was shipped (don't even get me going on the hap-hazard packaging of the shipment!). I checked my account and all other items were shown to be "item located in stock". Then the first email came indicating one of the items is "unavailable" and had been "cancelled" from my order; go on line and the item still shows as "in stock". Then a second email, two of my items will be cancelled within 48 hours because of "an error with my credit card". Funny, the same card was used for all items ordered as they are all part of the same order. I called CS and was advised that the email RE: my credit card was an error however she could not tell me if my items will ship or when or even if they are in fact available or not. She then took it upon herself to ask me to check my cell phone. She sent me a text message from her personal phone (in the US) advising me to cancel the entire order because "toys r us is not good business right now". I called today to follow up and ensure the order had been cancelled and was advised by another agent that it can't be cancelled because it was processed the day I ordered! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? While I was on hold waiting to speak with a rep I checked on line and ALL of the items I ordered are "sold out". So how can my order be processed when all items are out of stock, they have not been shipped and TRU can't tell me IF or WHEN they will be shipped? Christmas is now 10 days away. Toy drive needs donations before Dec 20 to be distributed to needy kids. Toys R Us is an absolute joke! I have been assured they will cancel my order. IF anything arrives; I doubt anything will; it will be immediately returned to a retail outlet. Never again will I ever shop at Toys R Us. I do a lot of on line shopping. It is understandable this time of year that an item or 2 may end up being out of stock. But everything? Come on! Why would the store not notify me as soon as they realised they could not fulfill the order? They do have my phone and email contact information. To-date I have only been notified that 1 out of 7 remaining items are not available. Am I expected to sit and wait until Feb to see if they are sent or not? Amazon, Sears, Walmart, Futureshop, and Bestbuy have no problem keeping their inventories up-to-date and honoring orders and shipment timeframes. Toys R Us does this on purpose. Clearly
