Complaint / review text:
On 8/14/13, I went in to the Monroeville Branch of PNC to request a "courtesy" check. This is a blank check that I may or may not use to write on my existing checking account. I opened a checking account in 2007, when I returned to the Pittsburgh region to reside and work. The greeter handed me off to a young man who asked for my PA Driver's License. He then proceeded to check into my current address change, which I filed at another branch. He walked away and left me sitting in his office for approximately 12 minutes. When he returned, I explained that I wasn't in the bank about my address change, that I was requesting a one time courtesy check. I was informed that there was a $1.50 fee associated with this service. I stated that in the past, I was never charged a service fee of $1.50. The young man stated he would have to get the Bank Manager. After about five minutes, the young man returned with the manager, Brian, who stated, "we are not going to do this". Total time spent in this PNC branch in Monroeville, approximately 30 minutes. I was treated like a thief, or, worse, like someone who was attempting to "steal" from the PNC bank. My reaction was to tell the manager, Brian, that I would request a courtesy check from another branch that I have dealt with in the past.
