Our complex was registered in September 2014. We only received our first COJ statement in December which is fine. I having been paying all my accounts and was expecting a back dated statement at some point. We got it in March and they were asking Almost R1500. I had a look over the statement and saw that we were being charged since October for refuse collection and we only received our bins end of Jan. I queried this and heard nothing back. The managing agents were constantly asking COJ for our bins. I called the accounts department and was told by the person assisting me that they cannot open a query because they have nothing to query. They said that I could have called and asked for my bin (which is what the managing agents were doing). I don't dispute that I owe and did pay for rates from Oct. But you can't charge me for a service I didn't receive. Surely they can see when our bins were delivered. They are probably hesitant because otherwise 49 units will be asking for the almost R900 refund. That's a lot of money. Maybe they should have delivered the bins in Oct when the accounts were registered. This is not on. This is in my opinion.
