When we built the kitchen of our dreams in 2001, we wanted the best appliances available. We had always thought that Viking made quality appliances, especially stoves and ovens. We were soon to learn this was false. We spent over $20,000 on a Viking six-burner cooktop, double oven, trash compactor, warming oven, and two garbage disposals. The garbage disposals were the first to go. Then the trash compactor handle broke. The upper oven thermostat quit working and two of the igniters on the stove quit.in addition, the print on the front of the oven just wiped off. We contacted Viking and, after many requests, were able to get the disposal and the front plate of the oven replaced, but we had to pay for the repair of the oven and cooktop.
Now, the heating element in the upper oven has quit. The trash compactor is still not fixed. Viking claims to be commercial grade appliances for the home, but they are not as good as the run-of-the-mill apartment appliances.in addition, the ovens take forever to pre-heat and do not hold a consistent temperature. As my husband says, the worst thing a company can do is successfully market a bad product and that is what Viking has done.
