We purchased a new 5 ton unit from W. H. Hearn Mechanical in Jacksonville, FL on 07-07-2003. On 05-28-04 they returned to our home because the unit had stopped cooling. At that time they replaced the compressor and said we had no labor warranty and charged us $450.00 to replace it. On 05-16-05 it stopped cooling again so we called A. T. Harris out and they said the unit was low on freon and recharged it. (We did not call Hearn back because they did not even warranty the unit for the first year as most do.) Again on 05-22-06 A. T. Harris had to return because once again the unit was not cooling. They recharged the unit again and said it was a little low on freon.
It also had to be charged again on 05-08-07 and again on 07-15-07. On 09-05-07 we had Von's Heating and Air come out and find our leak. They said it was the Condenser Coil and it cost us another $650.00. The unit again went out on 05-27-08 and they returned and said it now was the Accumulator leaking. At this time we have put $2149.39 into this unit that we paid $ 3963.00 for it in 2003. Goodman has not offered to help us in the labor cost or freon cost and I feel like we have a lemon unit. What can go wrong with it next?
