I have three Gibson units in my home. One unit I kept having to replace the freon and they could not find the hole. Now two of the units are leaking at the coils, and when I called in to Nordyne, one lady said if I did not turn in the registration that I had a five-year warranty and if they did register it, then I had a 10-year warranty. When I faxed in my serial numbers, the lady calls back and says that the unit only has a 5-year warranty, not 10. No matter what, the only thing that does have a 10-year warranty is the compressor, not the coils. After reading this dealer's comments, he thought it had a 10-year warranty too.

When I told the lady that the lady I talked to yesterday told me 10 years, she said that no one would have told me that and that units did not have to be registered until 07 because in 04 they did not send any paperwork with the units to register. When I was coming home to meet my heat and air guy one day, I saw another heat and air company next door. I stopped and talked to them for a minute. They asked me what kind of system I had and I said a Gibson. He said, "I can tell you where it is leaking from right now, " and I said where?"The coils are leaking, and we have replaced hundreds of the coils in these units." Good money for Nordyne, but not really good for the customer. Not a good company to do business with.
