We purchased our brand new Clayton mobile home in 2000. Problems began quickly with very high heating bills, things falling apart almost daily, more electrical outlets do not work than those that do. Of course the dealer went out of business. The Clayton headquarters never got back to me once. So for years now I have fixed things as they occurred. This year I decided to go ahead and tear out the whole underside of the home down to the floor. Now I see why we have had so many problems. The wiring looks like Mickey Mouse did it, exposed wires, pitiful splicing, total junk throughout. The ductwork for the heat and air is worse, seams not sealed, mashed areas, gaps everywhere. I found empty beer and soda cans throughout the underbelly where the workers just tossed them down any hole that was open. Floor cut-outs were just allowed to drop into the belly. Now I see the Duck Dynasty guys have signed on. I wonder if they know how these homes are really built? I would like to get a class action suit going. We paid a lot of money for this piece of junk and by now I have basically rebuilt everything. Clayton homes are death traps.
