I put a new Reveal 75 watt incandescent light bulb in my swing arm desk lamp that can use 100 watt bulbs.in just a few seconds the light bulb started to smoke! I unplugged the lamp immediately. I removed the light bulb and the light bulb socket and the filament were fused inside the lamp socket. The light bulb looked as if it was cut by a glass cutter. After I removed the light bulb socket and filament I used a flashlight to examine the lamp socket. It was all blackened so I threw the lamp into the garbage.
This same weekend, I put a new Reveal 75 watt bulb into another swing arm desk lamp, this one made by Ledu. This lamp was older but the lamp said 75 watts. I threaded the Reveal light bulb and again, in a matter of seconds, the light bulb burned out. There was no smoke this time. I removed the light bulb and shook it so I knew the filament was broken. The desk light socket was also blackened! I tried a 40 watt bulb thinking I was mistaken. The 40 watt was a different brand than GE. Sure enough, the 40 watt light bulb blew so I confirmed that my second swing arm desk lamp was toast. I was so frightened that I will never buy any GE light bulbs.
