A bulb in my bathroom needed to be replaced. The fixture accepts round, make-up style bulbs. I inserted a Reveal bulb, flipped the switch, and noticed that the light was not as bright as I had hoped. Looking up, I saw the clear bulb filling with gas. I flipped off the light switch. I still needed a bulb in this socket, but was afraid to touch this bulb. With towel in hand, I started to unscrew the bulb, when it suddenly shattered in my hand and shards of glass flew out into the bathroom.
Now, pieces of glass are in my sink and on the tile floor in a room where one is barefoot everyday. The box contained three bulbs and it states they were made in China. The bulbs are not safe. An eye injury could easily have been obtained. What if this happens while someone is bathing an infant? Now the base of the bulb is in the socket of the light fixture and I'll have to trip the breaker and dig out the base. What a hassle. What type of gas was released?
