I've been selling on ebay for last 14 month. I become a power seller with 100% feedback on over 233 transactions waiting on at least another 40 feedbacks... To take it up around 270. I'm in Australia and I had a ebay buyer from Missouri in the US ask to purchase a set of holden commodore vx sedan tail lights... I had them on ebay for $39.95... With postage insurance to the USA. It was $156.00 all up. So I bubble wrapped the tail light put them in a machinery box for to save on import duties... Sent them off. 3.5 weeks later they arrived.
He sent me a message saying I had 3 options 1 send another light, 2 refund, 3 start ebay case. So I opted to ring ebay and have them deal with the issue on my behalf... The operator was getting off the phone to me and was ringing the buyer. Week went by and had message from ebay telling me to pay for a return postage. (The item sale was $39.95 postage $115) I said I don't need to do that as Australia post told me the buyer had to take damage goods to the local post office so I could start the insurance claim... But the buyer refused to do so. So I couldn't claim the insurance.
On the 2nd of February I was emailed by ebay about the case thing that the buyer started... I had enough by then as ebay was doing as they promised me. I don't need this stress. So I opted to refund half the product cost which was $75.62... (sale was $39.95). So I was losing out but in saying that I was protecting my power seller status thinking it had be finished with. Ebay then refunded the buyer the rest of the purchase on the 14th February 2015... $75.62.
So my original sale of $39.95 cost me Around $155.00 dollars with insurance... The buyer left me negative feedback. I refunded him for the whole purchase and never received my damage goods... So I couldn't claim insurance. My ad states buyer pays return postage. How did all this end up costing me so much money and getting what the buyer threatened me with... Negative feedback when I opted to meet his demands (threats)... Mind you I never damaged any goods. It was damaged in transit by postage company that I had insurance for the item with. I just can't get any help from ebay over this matter. They won't return my calls. When they do each person tells my a different outcome... So seller beware. Ebay buyer seem to have control over this site NOT THE SELLER WHO'S PAYING THE FEE'S...
