Dollar General on 2701 J Street in Brunswick, GA, store #07439 - I have been unemployed for 2 years and I finally got a call about a job opportunity. While I was on the phone doing my phone interview, my phone went dead so I went to the closest store to my husband's job because I was waiting to pick him up from work. I bought a USB charger and the car adapter. I had to wait in a long line and the cashier was very slow. Because the line was long, when he checked me out, I rushed off because it was time for me to pick up my husband. When I was checking out, the cashier did not give me my receipt. He only gave me my change and was helping the customer before me giving her change. If he was paying attention, he would have given me my receipt.
I did not realize I did not have my receipt until I was ready to return them. I did not have time to go back while I was on that side of town, so I went a little later. I did not go back until about 8:15PM. I brought the items back because they did not work. I did not have my receipt because the associate did not give me one. When I walked in, an associate named came to help me. I told him the situation and he began to help. I explained that I came into the store around 5:30PM and bought a USB adapter for my phone and the adapter for the car. I told him that the charger did not work and I wanted to return them. He said there was nothing he could do because I did not have a receipt.
I told him that the associate who checked me out was still here and to ask if he had seen it. Did not want to ask him. I waited until the associate was done with his customer and asked if he had seen my receipt. He said, "I should have given it to you." I stated that, "You did not give me the receipt." He informed that he did remember me coming in there and I did pay for the items. Stated that did not matter, I still needed my receipt. I asked the associate if he put the receipt to the side or something, he could not tell me. There was a customer behind me and told me that I needed to move out the way so he could help the customers. I told that I was here first and that they needed to assist me first before they assist her.
He had the nerve to tell me that I did not need to get an attitude. I explained to him that "I am upset because I am trying to return my items, but your associate did not give me a receipt." I asked the associate, "What do you do when you do not give a customer their receipt?" He stated that he rips them up and throw them in the trash.instead of the associate looking in the trash for the receipt, I had to dig through their trash to look for my receipt. I felt too embarrassed and humiliated because of their service. I was treated like I was a thief. My husband makes good money and I do not have to steal anything! I am very angry about the service I received. I will never shop there again.
