I went to Macy's to purchase a gift for a family member. I decided to put $100.00 on my Macy's prepaid credit card. The Cashier took my money and credited my account. Then went I tried to use the card, the card was declined, even though it should have had a $96.00 credit balance to cover an item that cost $65.00. I called the credit card department and they told me that the card had been cancelled. They also refused to re-activate the card. They said that because I had recieved the card when I was a seasonal employee, and was no longer employed with Macy's, that the card was cancelled and could not be reactivated. Then, the offered to send me a check for the balance of $96.00. To make the long story short, I eventually had the $96.00 refunded to me in cash at the store, but not before having to speak to about five or six different people, many of whom had no idea what they were talking about.
My experience was utterly frustrating and repulsive.
Macy's simply does not care about their customers. And that's just the beginning. As a whole, the company is poorly managed, and treats customers poorly.
The credit department is rude.
I was deeply offended by the way that I was treated by Macy's. I returned the item that I bought. I will avoid Macy's and shop where I feel that my business is appreciated.
