Our less than 5-year old "cedar/redwood, " "made in the USA" playsystem, has a 10-year warranty|. Not sure if any of the claims (cedar??? Made in USA???) are true...
We suggest that you have the "wood" inspected by a third party.
In our sad case, at first, we thought we had a few wood damaged planks. Later, we have since learned the full extent of the damage and the true customer cost of getting any help from the "manufacturer / distributor friendly" warranty
We are in shock as to the extent of the physical and financial damage:
1) all the insect infested main support beams will have to be replaced - shipping ($200???) and installation costs ($150|.) at our expense, site inspection (another $100.); 2) some existing and all new systems are made of another wood - birchwood? - not in the USA; 3) the local franchisee distributor claims his hands are tied - contends that warranty remedy is up to the manufacterer - the local owner claims he simply sells the product"; 4) based on a conversation with a supervisor, in my opinion it appears the manufacturer appears determined to seek warranty exceptions versus making the customer happy; 5) as mentioned, you will pay about $100 for the distributor to come out to verify the warranty claims; 6) other playsystem (i. E Costco etc..) cost MUCH less and are made of insect resistent cedar wood; 7) our local tree expert said our "extensive" damage should not happen to cedar/redwood in this locale; 8) be ready for a lethargic warranty relief process - minimally 4 weeks".
Still waiting:. I hope they provide full waranty help. We will submit an update when we hear back.
