I made two purchases at Macy's and timely returned both purchases in full. For one of the purchases I used an exchange card from an earlier purchase from a gift card.
Because I timely returned my purchases, the balance was zero and when I received my bill I did not pay it. I found that they charged me interest and late fees because I did not pay the bill despite the fact that I returned it within 30 days. To add insult to injury, when I returned the second purchase, the cashier asked if I wanted another exchange card or a credit to be added to account. I chose the later and they took that too.
So what do I have? No merchandise, no gift from the gift card, and I given Macy's nearly $100 for nothing! I have shopped there for many years (when it was MF), including furniture, spending literally thousands of dollars. I'm a po consumer.
I have never experienced this billing practice with any other credit cards I have and was unaware of this practice as it is not clearly stated anywhere.
Macy's days, save 15%, Really? Never again!
