I hired Kevin's Smooth Moves from Milwaukee, WI to move me out of my condo. I had to call him to confirm because I never heard from him at all. An hour before he and his movers were supposed to show up, one of the movers called and said his "car took a dump" and wanted to know how much I had to move. I told him what we needed loaded by him and another mover, and his exact words were "is it even worth it for me to show up?" Yes, I hired you to do a job, so please do it! A half hour later he called and said he found a ride but wouldn't get to me on time so he would just like to cancel. I told him to get to me within an hour and a half (plenty of time to get from Milwaukee to West Bend). Fifteen minutes before he was supposed to get there, he sent me a text (a TEXT is NOT professional!) saying "please find someone else to move you - family or friend - I cannot make it there, you're on your own. Best Wishes!"
I ended up renting a 14' truck for my large items, but if I would've known the movers weren't going to show up, I could've saved over $150 by getting a smaller truck, and not paying as much for mileage costs AND gas. (not to mention the $155.95 I'm being charged for his workers to not show up) But because I had hired them to move me, I got a larger truck.in addition, we couldn't move my bed or my couch, so those had to be left behind, and now I Have to buy new ones... All because Kevin couldn't find someone worthwhile to move my items, and his business and workers are unmotivated, lazy, and unprofessional.
To make matters worse, I contacted Kevin to say his workers never showed and he promised me my card (which had been charged within 24 hours of me hiring his company) would be reimbursed. 8 days later, I still haven't seen my money back. I've filed a complaint with the online service I went through to hire him but they say he gets 2 weeks to respond or reimburse me, so he's sitting there with over $150 of my money to do whatever he wants with.
Don't hire him or his company - go with a certified moving company instead! They know what they're doing, and will most likely have a back up plan if their workers are sick or have car trouble, instead of Kevin who said nothing in the way of an apology for his unprofessional movers and made no move to find someone else to do the work for me.
