I own a house that is listed through VRBO. I have been reading these complaints. I am here to tell you that Owners are being treated equally as bad as our potential customers. It used to be you got a request because the customer found you through VRBO and you were able to take over the booking and get on with it. Now VRBO wants to handle ALL aspects of the booking, including taking the money, holding it for you until after the guests stay (read - collect all that interest instead of you getting the $).
They have "in the interest of protecting our security" blanked out any email or websites that we include in our responses to our potential guests. I always sent my guests to my website to make a reservation - have been doing this for a decade now. Now I can't communicate directly with them without the intervention of VRBO - oh, and they have tripled their prices to use their "service" in the last few years. Any other owners totally pissed with this company?
